Dr. George E. Runnels
Dr. George Runnels acquired Augusta Animal Emergency (AAE) on May 1st, 2007, but he is not new to the area’s veterinary community. He has been the medical director of AAE for two years and has over seven years of veterinary emergency and critical care experience.
Dr. Runnels moved to Aiken in 2003 to bring his family closer to his wife’s parents who have lived in Aiken, SC for over 30 years. Dr. Runnels and his family had always wanted to move back to Aiken due to their love of the CSRA.
He graduated from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Dr. Runnels’ career in emergency and critical started in Savannah, GA under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Shealy, DVM, ACVS.
When the opportunity came about to buy AAE, he took it because of his love for the challenges associated with pet emergency and critical care.
“The loyalty and dedication of the staff was the biggest reason for me to purchase Augusta Animal Emergency. I have never worked in a hospital with such quality team spirit. This staff has allowed my professional growth to flourish beyond my expectations. I approach every patient with the expectation of what would I do if my own dog, Aubie, were sick or injured. I attempt to treat every patient as if it were my very own dog that needed emergency veterinary care.”
When the patient is special and the condition is critical you will want immediate, experienced, competent emergency care.
Augusta Animal Emergency is dedicated solely to emergency and critical care for the companion animal. Our philosophy is to offer the very best veterinary care possible.
